Services Employment training advice ‘drop-in’ sessions are held regularly with staff from the Employment Service (Jobcentre Plus) and Burnley College on hand to advise local people on latest opportunities. Our newsletter is delivered by hand to hundreds of homes around South West Burnley with copies also available free in local shops, post offices and library. Regular computer ‘taster’ sessions run at the centre, with local people ‘dropping in’ to find out how to use the internet, learn about word processing and other IT basics. Burnley MP Kitty Ussher added the centre to her list of neighbourhood surgery venues allowing local people to come and talk to her ‘face to face’ without the need to travel into the town centre or make a formal appointment. Happy Faces creche runs at the centre for pre-schoolchildren every morning and afternoon. There’s always some extra fun on Red Nose Day ! Centre-based Homestart offers free, confidential help and advice to young families finding it difficult to cope with modern day life. ELAC – Education Learning Activity Centre – runs a supervised after school club with games and outdoors sports at the centre on Monday and Wednesday evenings during school term time. |
