THE BIG LOTTERY Reaching Communities Programme
Funding has enabled the centre to launch and run the Healthy Eating, Active Lifestyle project targeting the residents of Rosegrove with Lowerhouse, Trinity and Coal Clough with Deerplay, areas of South West Burnley.
The aim, through community participation, courses, training and events, is to give local people information, help and access to healthier living as well as reducing social isolation.
BURNLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL
- Working with the Neighbourhood Management Team identifying issues and helping provide effective solutions.
- Exploring new ways of working with the local neighbourhood through Community Cohesion Unit initiatives.
- Seeking and securing funding, to maintain the centre’s ongoing future, in partnership with the Regeneration and Economic Development Unit.
- Continually exploring and maximising opportunities to work with council officers and elected representatives for the betterment of South West Burnley, its people and the centre.
BURNLEY COLLEGE
Working with the college’s Division of Community Access to provide opportunities for learning and training in the local community.
TUDOR TRUST
Independent grant making trust which has provided financial support.
WORKING PARTNERS
- Support for organisations who use the centre as the base for their activities – ELAC and GreenSpace.
- Identifying and encouraging new use for the centre as a base for reaching and offering services to the people of South West Burnley.
... AND THE FUTURE
The creation of a residents panel to help maintain and develop the services and facilities offered PLUS continually seeking, supporting and initiating new community-based activities for the betterment of the people of South West Burnley.
